RUNNING HEADER: HOW UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AFFECT COUNTRIES How the Unemployment Rate Affects a Countries Economy In 2010 Abstract This paper is about how the high unemployment rate has an affect on the economy. The high unemployment rate had an affect on the Gross Domestic Production as well how it had an affect on the economy as well. This paper covers when the Gross Domestic Production went up the unemployment rate had gone down as well. The high unemployment rate also had direct ties to the economy, because if people are not working they are not going to spend money on house hold goods which is what drives the economy. When jobs are not created its hard for people to find work. People that are looking to work full time are now forced to work part time jobs just to make an income. Working part time has increased which was measured by the Labor of Department. The average work hours are has gone down to 34.5 hours. With all way that jobs are headed wages have also gone down as well. Wages are significantly lower since the recession has started as well. Many corporations have had to cut wages since they are not making as much money, because they’ve had to slash prices on their goods. Since companies have had to slash prices it taken a great affect on employees. In order for employees to keep their jobs they’ve had to take pay cuts in order to keep to keep their jobs and not get laid off. With high unemployment the growth of household incomes are being constraint with wages going down. If unemployment stays high it’s going to prevent house hold income from growing and is go ing to also prevent little household consumption. With little consumption going on that means those households are responding by saving their money rather than by spending it on goods that they might not necessarily need.
